Empathy and Point of View

Constructive Self Regulation and Reflection Objectives
​In this section students will:
-Identify their values
     -Recognize what is important to them
         -Realize why these values are important to them
-Gain a better understanding of who they are as a student, problem solver, member of    
     society…
     -Identify their own strengths and weaknesses
          -Actively look for ways to improve themselves and the systems around them
-Consider how they know what they know
     -Recognize the significant influences (people / events) on their lives
-Notice their learning strategies
     -Recognize the circumstances surrounding them when they learn best and the surrounding
         circumstances when they struggle to understand
     -Realize the circumstances surrounding them when they do their best work and the
          surrounding circumstances when their work is not up to par
-Understand the importance of taking responsibility for their own actions
-Craft a mission statement
-Work towards becoming proactive, self-starters
Courageous and Open - Minded Exploration Objectives
In this section students will:
-Reignite their inner curiosity
     -Continually ask revealing questions like ‘what if…?’
     -Recognize how curiosity leads to opportunities

-Increase their self confidence
     -Understand how to develop self confidence
          -Appreciate how self – efficacy leads to confidence
               -Experience success (small and large scale)
          -Realize expertise is the product of long time efforts                          
-Develop a mindset that allows them to try and fail without discouragement

Effective Communication Objectives
​In this section students will:
-Understand empathy and the importance of being empathetic
     -Recognize an audience’s needs
          -Determine how to best meet the audience’s needs
-Develop the ability to write, speak and present clearly and concisely
     -Learn the components of a powerful presentation
          -Learn to present with focus, energy, and passion
               -Thoroughly prepare for presentations
                  -Effectively use supporting materials
-Enhance the ability to persuade others
     -Identify barriers to effective communication
          -Become active listeners
-Gain the ability to provide constructive feedback

Insightful Interviewing Objectives
In this section students will:
-Appreciate an insightful interview
     -Develop effective empathetic interview questions
     -Understand how to interpret and categorize different points of view
-Collect qualitative and quantitative data
     -Interpret data
